The works were inspired by an excerpt from David Graeber’s book Debt: The First 5000 Years, which served as a catalyst for reflection on the mechanisms of value, exchange and interdependence.

The derivatives are financial contracts whose value depends on the price of another asset, known as the underlying instrument (e.g. shares, currencies, commodities, interest rates), and which are settled at a specific point (or period) in the future. They are mainly used for hedging against price fluctuations or for speculation, offering the use of financial leverage. The main types are futures, options and swaps.
